So you are new to this and do not know where to start. No problem there, we are here to help. So lets start with some basics…
Once your account has been approved you will receive an email with your ad code to be placed on your site as you please. Along with your sites tracking code from Quantcast.
You want to place these ads where you have the most traffic and on all of your pages if possible. If your site has a forum or community software set up, this is generally your best location.
There are three ad sizes to choose from as you can see on this site:
- 728 x 90 Leaderboard
- 300 x 250 Medium Rectangle
- 160 x 600 Large Skyscraper
For blogs, and content pages such as your home page, the Rectangle and Skyscraper are most popular. For your forums, the Leaderboard is the most popular.
You may place each of these size ads on a page in any combination. There is no limit to how many ads you can have on your site, but it is recommend that you keep it to 3 or 4 in various sizes as we have done on the CAN site.
The code from Quantcast needs to be placed right above the </body> tag found at the bottom of your site’s html. This code needs to be on every page on your website to ensure accurate statistics. Depending on how your site is set up, here is a list of various placements for this code:
- On your sites opening index page (ie The page that shows an image or flash movie with an “enter here” option)
- In the global footer of your CMS script (joomla, wordpress, etc)
- In the global footer of your forum system (vb, phpbb, smf, invision, etc)
Once you have placed this code in the various pages, you will then find after 7 to 10 days that your site will be ranked and tracked by Quantcast. It is very important that you use the code we provide so that you are added to the Network stats. This gives us the ability to earn higher CPM rates for the network which means higher rates for you.
